In today’s market, many people are confused on
what to buy, what a machine will do, and how it operates. We hope our fact
sheet will help you. Below are some sample questions and
answers:
Will your machines string any type of
racquet?
All machines we sell will string
all the various shapes and sizes, i.e., wide body, oversize, super, mid,
tennis, squash, badminton, and racquetball.
Why use us for
repairs?
The manufacturer cannot promise
repair within a certain time period. Tennis Machines, however, will likely
have you back in business within one week after they receive your shipment.
Do you sell used equipment?
Yes, but our inventory changes
daily so you will have to call us ( [USA] 1-800-572-1055 or (636) 394-8811)
to find out what is in stock.
Do you do warranty repairs?
If you purchased your machine from
our company, we will do warranty repairs. If not, check the
manufacturer first for warranty repairs. If your machine is out of warranty,
give us a call.
Who pays the shipping cost for repairs?
The customer pays for shipping
both ways.
What is the most common problem facing
stringers?
Jim says it's string clamp
slippage and accurate string tensioning. The company overhauls and replaces
more clamps and tension assemblies than any other part. The average turn
around time is 1-2 days on most repairs.
What are some of the terms you use?
Constant pull:
the fact that all electric type
machines, and all drop weight machines, while pulling to the preset
tension, are pulling stronger (and a longer time) than crank type
machines, or this could be also called "pre-stretch," and an
accepted fact is that constant pull machines will string 3# - 4# tighter
than crank type.
Crank type tension:
the pulling or turning of a handle to the pre-set tension, machine then
locks and holds.
Drop weight tension:
letting the weight bar rest at a horizontal level, at a preset tension, for
either portable or professional.
Fixed clamps:
string clamps move on a glide bar to the string holding position and when
the handle is locked, they hold stationary or "fixed" at that
position.
Portables:
also called table top models, weight less than 50# and are used by setting
them on a table, counter, or desk.
Professional models:
column-type stand-up operation machines.
Tension range: 10# to 90#, varies.
